The neck area, often neglected in our beauty routine, should be put first in all anti-aging efforts. Here’s what you can do to keep your neck beautiful and young for as long as possible.
Every woman wants to keep her neck beautiful as long as possible, like a swan neck, supple and without wrinkles, but what do we do when after an certain age (40-50 years, depending on the genetic baggage of each one of us) we wake up with „turkey neck”, a not at all glamorous term that describes the wrinkled, sagging skin under the chin and on the neck. This unsightly effect occurs when the neck muscles begin to weaken and the skin loses its elasticity, its natural ability to stretch and remain firm. Here are five procedures by which you can delay or combat wrinkles in the neck area.
1.Exercises for neck muscles
They are excellent for toning the neck muscles, but be careful, they cannot remove excess skin once installed, so it is good to start doing them from the age of 35, for preventive purposes!
Forehead push
Place one hand on your forehead. Push your head against your hand without allowing your head to move forward. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Then, hold both of your hands behind your head, pushing backwards with your neck, and hold for 10 seconds.
Chew
Sit with your back straight. Lift your head back so your chin points toward the ceiling. Keep your lips closed and make a chewing motion with your mouth. Repeat 20 times.
Kiss
Sit with your back straight. Lift your head so your chin points to the ceiling with your lips closed. Pout your lips as if you were giving a kiss. Repeat 20 times.
2. Tightening creams
N-acetyl glucosamine, a natural form of the chemical glucosamine, is found in many types of neck and other antiaging creams. There is some research suggesting such creams can help improve the appearance of turkey neck by firming and smoothing the skin while reducing the effects of hyperpigmentation. Excellent is also vitamin A, in its best known forms - tretinoin (Retin A) and retinol - which can turn back time and restore the structure of the skin by acting deeply in the dermis.
3. Surgical procedures
These are by far the fastest and most effective anti-aging treatments for the neck. Traditional surgical procedures (facelift) require cutting the skin and can leave scars, while some of the newer treatments are less invasive. For example, through a minimally invasive technique, the neck lift is done using bio-absorbable threads that are inserted under the skin to stretch the tissue. The threads dissolve in about 12 weeks, but the production of natural collagen is stimulated and the lifting effect can last for several years.
4.Botox for the neck
Yes, botox (botulinum toxin type A) can be used as a treatment for the neck area! The procedure is non-invasive and does not require recovery time. Botox is injected in such a way as to reduce the unsightly appearance of the platysma bands (those vertical cords visible, with age, on the neck). The results last about 3-4 months, and repeated injections are needed to keep the skin firm.
5. Laser rejuvenation
Various medical devices can warm and tone the skin. Laser rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that needs to be repeated once every 4-6 months to maintain results.
