The season of walking bare feet on the sand or on the fresh grass is near. Here’s what you need to do to get rid of the rough skin on your feet and heels.

Thickening of the skin layer on the feet and heels is a common problem in adulthood, but with perseverance and good care, it can be diminished and even removed. The causes of this problem are multiple: walking a lot, shoes that are too tight, lack of adequate ventilation of the skin in cold seasons. But a few simple actions will make you enter the summer with soft and velvety skin.

1. Twice a week use an abrasive tool or a pumice stone to remove the layer of dead cells from the entire surface of the soles. Insist on the heels and on the sides, where wefts and mounts tend to form.

2. In the evening, after the bath, massage your soles and your heels with a special nourishing cream. Then put on a pair of thin cotton socks and sleep with them, so the cream will soften well and nourish the skin of the soles.

3. Natural trick! Don’t eat all the strawberries, keep a few for your soles too! Press a handful of fruit and mix the paste with two tablespoons of almond oil and a little sea salt. Then massage your heels for a few minutes with this fragrant mixture, in a ritual of softness and pampering.

Be careful, very thick soles and cracked heels can be the result of internal conditions such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies, thyroid dysfunction or diabetes. If no matter how much you take care of it, the skin on your heels stays rough, the next step is to go to the doctor for a complete set of tests.
